China Abrasive Materials Weekly Price (9-15 Nov): Production restriction areas continue to expand
This week, there is a slight decline in the price of raw material alumina, but the overall price is stable, the price of white fused alumina in China is temporarily stable. However, considering that alumina prices have a downward trend, it is expected that in the coming week, white fused alumina prices may be stable and have a declining trend.
This week, the demand for brown fused alumina in China is still weak. Although manufacturers intend to raise their quotations due to rising raw material prices, downstream customers refuse to accept the price increase. Therefore, the domestic market price of brown fused alumina in China remains unchanged for the time being. The heating season in north China has officially started on November 15th. If environmental protection control continues to become stricter, the price trend of brown fused alumina may change.
At this stage, the operating rate of brown corundum smelting furnaces in Dengfeng of Henan Province, has been further reduced. Since the beginning of this year, as the price of high-grade bauxite has remained stable while the market price of brown fused alumina has continued to fall, it is not cost-effective for many local smelting factories to produce. For cost considerations, local companies start to buy brown corundum blocks from Chongqing, Jiaozuo, and Guizhou for processing and then sell. On the other hand, environmental inspections in Henan are constantly escalating, especially this year is the final year of the "Blue Sky Defense War", and environmental inspections are more stringent, and some local companies in Henan have incomplete environmental procedures, so most of them stop production.
In mid-November, the quotations of black silicon carbide abrasives in Gansu Province showed a steady upward trend. After the early ultra-low rebound, some companies continued to increase their prices. The main reason for the price increase was that the prices of raw materials such as anthracite and petroleum coke continued to rise, which raised the production costs. It is expected that in the coming week, the price of black silicon carbide may continue to rise under the influence of changes in raw material costs.
This week, the demand for green silicon carbide in China remained weak, and market transactions were slow. However, due to the rising price of raw material petroleum coke, manufacturers did not intend to reduce prices due to cost support, so prices remained stable compared to last week.
